Dry Semi-core Reactor
1. General
Dry semi-core reactor, that is putting the core columns in the
traditional structure of core reactor to the hollow of the
air-core reactor. Which is different from the traditional iron core
reactor is its core is not surrounded by the coil to form a closed
loop, it is cleverly to transfer the air gap of the original iron
core reactor core placed in the column of air gap (the gap is to
obtain a specific inductance value necessary) to the air core
reactor coils outside.
2. Classification and use of reactors
There are two ways of connection, in series and in shunt. Series
reactor is usually for limiting current, and the shunt reactor
plays the role of reactive power compensation.
Semi-core dry shunt reactor, at super high voltage long-distance

to compensate for capacitive line charging current, limiting the
system voltage increases and operating over voltage, thereby

of circuits.
Semi-core dry series reactor, installed in the capacitor circuit,

current, but also be set with capacitor bank into harmonic
circuit to filter the specific harmonic wave.
3. Main Features.
As the core need not surround the coil, thus saving a lot of core
material.
Comparing with Dry air core shunt reactor comparison, the volume of
dry semi-core reactor is decreased by 30 ~ 50%, power loss of
semi-core shunt reactor reduced by 20 ~ 30%, semi-core series
reactor operation energy reduced by 30 ~ 40%.
Semi-core reactor core column is vacuum epoxy casted by the overall
shape, the overall dense, solid, run-time minimal vibration, low
noise. Reactor with a special protective measures to deal with can
be directly used in outdoor environmental conditions without any
restrictions.
VA characteristics is similar to linear. The traditional concept

characteristics for the non-linear, semi-dry reactor core voltage
characteristics show linear features.
